Allow camera access on Android
Fix camera permission problems in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on an Android phone.
On this page
Snapbar needs camera permission before you can take a photo. Start with the browser permission, then check the Android app permission if the camera is still blocked.
Try this first
Open the Snapbar experience in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. If you opened the link inside an email or social app, use its menu to open the page in your browser instead.
When your browser asks to use the camera, choose Allow.
Return to the camera step. If the page was already open, refresh it and start the photo flow again.
Chrome
Tap the site controls icon beside the address bar, then open Permissions.
Set Camera to Allow.
Reload the page and start the photo flow again.
Microsoft Edge
Tap the site information icon beside the address bar, then open Permissions.
Set Camera to Allow.
Reload the page and start the photo flow again.
Firefox
Open the Firefox menu, choose Settings, then open Site permissions.
Choose Camera and set it to Ask to allow.
Return to the Snapbar page, reload it, and choose Allow when Firefox asks for camera access.
What to know
- Android can block the browser itself.Open Android Settings, choose Apps, select your browser, then choose Permissions, Camera, and Allow only while using the app. Menu names can vary slightly by phone.
- An in-app browser may not support camera access correctly.Links opened inside Gmail, Instagram, LinkedIn, or another app can use a limited browser. Open the same link in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.
- Another app may be using the camera.Close video calls, camera apps, and other browser tabs, then reload the Snapbar page.
Tips
- If you previously chose Block, changing only the Android app permission may not be enough. Update the site permission in the browser too.
- After changing a permission, reload the page before trying the camera again.
